About JFK

As many of you already know, John F. Kennedy was the president of the United States. His nickname was Jack. He was killed in Dallas, Texas on November 22. He was born on May 29, 1917 Brookline, Massachusetts. He was the youngest president the States had and was the first Roman Catholic president. He was in the military. Was in World War 2. He joined politics in 1946. In 1960 he ran for presidency against Richard Nixon. Eventually he beat Nixon by 0.1%. He was sworn into office January 20th, 1961 at noon. His inauguration speech was amazing and a famous quote of his was born and would be remembered forever:  "And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country." His presidency had a whirlwind of significant events that would shape and change the history of America as we know it. Some of those events were:

  • Peace Corps (created 1961)
  • Bay of Pigs Invasion (1961)
  • Berlin Wall (built 1961)
  • Alan Shepherd Jr. became first American in space (1961)
  • Twenty-Third Amendment was authorized  thus giving the residents of District of Columbia the right to vote in presidential elections (1961)
  • Cuban Missile Crisis (1962)
These events were most popular and influential during his term in office.

He was married to Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy aka Jackie. She was very beautiful and a fashion icon. He had an affair that was huge in media with Marilyn Monroe. He had 4 kids, 3 died and one is still alive. Arabella Kennedy was a stillborn and the couple's first born. Caroline Kennedy is the Kennedy's second daughter, she is still alive. John F. Kennedy Jr. was lived the longest of the 3 Kennedy children that passed away early. He died in a plane crash with his wife Carolyn Kennedy and her sister on July 16th, 1999.

John F. Kennedy's assassination was very famous. The reason it was so famous as because it was public and it was brutal. JFK was riding with Jackie in Dallas, Texas on motorcade. Then shots were heard. President Kennedy was wounded. The last shot blew of Kennedy's head. Parts of his brain and skull flew back and Jackie reached out to get them. Jackie was covered in blood and her pink suit she wore that day, she wore it when Lyndon B. Johnson was being sworn in as president. The suit is still covered with blood and it remains as a reminder of that awful day. Lee Harvey Oswald was accused of killing the president and was held in custody. A few days later he was shot by Jack Ruby.  There have been many theories of Kennedy's death but still his death remains a mystery.

There is much more about Kennedy to know. So come and discuss about him and anything related on my blog. I would love to hear your thoughts.
